Importing from China to Morocco: shipping, costs and customs
Morocco imports a lot from China, through Casablanca and Tanger Med. The key to a smooth arrival is a correct invoice and a good customs broker.

Customs duties and taxes
- Customs duty depends on the product and ranges from about 0% to 40%; finished consumer goods usually pay the higher rates.
- Import VAT is 20% for most goods (reduced rates for some products), calculated on the value plus shipping plus duty.
- Since July 2022 purchases from foreign e-commerce websites no longer get the duty exemption: small parcels also pay duty and VAT.
Rules and documents
- Commercial imports are declared in the BADR system (and PortNet for ports), usually through a licensed customs broker (transitaire).
- Food, plants and animal products are checked by ONSSA; many industrial products need a conformity check before release.
- Counterfeit goods are seized, and declaring a lower value than the real price is customs fraud.

Ask the supplier for a real commercial invoice and a packing list: customs checks the value.
By sea, Casablanca is about 40 to 50 days door to port; air cargo arrives at Casablanca Mohammed V in a few days.
For samples and small orders, express is the simplest: the courier handles customs clearance.
